UPDATE 25th March
Following the government announcement on 23rd March 2020 we have now had the opportunity to assess how this might affect Building Surveyors and BS Initiative Limited
In our view the Government advice is as follows: –
Where you can work from home you must do so.
Where you cannot work from home such as undertaking site inspections and building surveys you can do so provided that: –
The surveyor is fit and well and shows no symptoms of Coronavirus
That no member of the surveyors household shows symptoms of Coronavirus or is in quarantine
That the inspection or survey can be visited without use of public transport
That safe social distancing is practical and achievable or the building is unoccupied
That the BS Initiative Health and safety policy for minimising Coronavirus infection is complied with.
Accordingly, it is our view that we can undertake the following works until further notice: –
- All external inspections and building surveys including dilapidations and defect diagnosing
- Inspections and surveys internally to unoccupied buildings or where social distancing can be safely achieved
We consider that building surveys of occupied residential units should be suspended at this time.
It is our aim to provide the fullest possible Building Surveying service during this difficult time and look forward to hearing from all our valued clients long standing or new.
